About 6th Farabi - UNESCO International Award

As a result of my joint research at Middlesex University on the impact of Persian orthographic transparency on reading behavior of normal and dyslexic children, I worked on a project for changes in National Language Curriculum of Iran that resulted in indicators of teaching Farsi reading, writing, speaking and listening at different educational stages at Iranian education system. This research report won the second prize of 6th Farabi - UNESCO International Festival. Please see the links below

The results of my work has now been a contributing factor for changes in the new Frasi curriculum in Iran. I am currently working on a project on indicators of productive language arts (speaking and writing) in EFL curriculum of Iran"s education system.
 

Implications of scientific research on Persian orthography for teaching and practice

During the past decades, in particular as a result of pioneering research on Persian orthography by Baluch (1988)and his subsequent work including (Baluch & Besner, 1991; Baluch, 1996; Baluch & Besner 2001; Baluch , 2005), there has been a growing interest in how opaqueness and transparency of Persian orthography has implications for research and practice amongst Iranian scholars.

                     My work on developmental dyslexia, in collaboration with Dr Bahman Baluch and partly funded by Middlesex University in 2004, led to several publications in International and Iranian Journals. These publications were amongst the first reported research on the impact that opaqueness and transparency of Persian may have on readers of Persian with developmental dyslexia. From a practical viewpoint as a result of research on normal and dyslexic children’s reading behaviour with Dr Baluch, I have developed and introduced a new research project on Persian young children’s cognitive pre-requisites of reading, as you could see in what follows

Also, Following my first research with Dr Baluch on Reading, I developed and leaded another research project on indicators of the four language arts (including reading) education in national language curriculum of Iran at all different educational stages, while I was working as a researcher in Iran’s ministry of education (research institution for curriculum development and educational innovations) . This research report won the award of sixth Farabi international festival, UNESCO and ISESCO on adult section in 2012. Please see the link below:

Also, I used the findings of my researches on Persian children’s reading behavior for teaching in the courses on “language and thought” at BA level and also “psycholinguistics” at MA level.
